02 Oct In:The Mix / Jody Wisternoff
Few have gone through as many career landmarks, and have found such success in each and every one of them, as Jody Wisternoff. A finalist of the DMC Hip Hop Championships alongside his brother Sam at the age of just 13 years old, a core member of seminal ‘90s outfit Tru Funk at 15, founder of Bristol’s groundbreaking dub club night Way Out West…Wisternoff has achieved more in his teenage years than most of us do in a lifetime.
If he wasn’t so talented then we’d probably be seething with jealousy at his success, but the Anjunadeep mainstay is one of the greatest musical minds Bristol has ever produced. Today, he’s humble in his role as a house music mainstay, juggling sets at Alexandra Palace with remixes for Above & Beyond and acting as an advisor for their label Anjunadeep, signing Lane 8 and Lancelot.
Whether he’s chopping, scratching and screwing hip-hop at the age of 13 or introducing house music’s next wave to this day Wisternoff has always been a tastemaker, so before he makes his In:Motion homecoming this Friday alongside his Anjunadeep crew of Ben Böhmer, Dom Donnelly, Lane 8, Penelope and Yotto, he’s put together 90 minutes worth of underground club material to set you up for the weekend ahead.
